1 / 9 · Getting started

Getting started with Mindlet

What is Mindlet?

Mindlet is a French AI-assisted study app. You drop in a course (file, link or text), the AI turns it into cards and exercises, and the app schedules your reviews using spaced repetition, right when you're about to forget. It runs on the web, iPhone and Android, with a permanent free plan.

Is Mindlet free?

Yes, there's a free plan with no time limit and no credit card: three collections, a hundred cards and 400 éclats a month to import and generate. Every feature is included, and reviewing never costs anything. Paid plans add capacity; details are on the pricing page.

Which devices does Mindlet run on?

On the web at app.mindlet.app, on iPhone and iPad from iOS 15, and on Android from version 7. On a computer you use the web app in your browser: there's no app to install for Windows, Mac or Linux, and no watch app.

Can I try it without an account?

Yes. The app offers a no-account trial: you import a course and see the result, with a smaller éclats balance than a registered account. Signing up afterwards lets you keep your work, raises the balance and gives you a welcome bonus.

Is the app available in English?

The app interface is in French for now. Your collections can be generated in nine languages: French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Arabic and Hindi. While reading a document, you can translate a passage into 22 languages. Voice conversation with the assistant is in French.

2 / 9 · Importing

Importing your courses

Which files can I import?

PDFs (even scanned), Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OpenDocument, ePub, images, audio and video files, YouTube links, web pages or whole sites, pasted text, text and Markdown files, and Anki decks. iPhone HEIC photos aren't supported yet: convert them to JPEG before importing.

What's the maximum file size?

A PDF can be up to 25 MB, a Word, PowerPoint or Excel document up to 40 MB, an image up to 30 MB. An audio file can reach 500 MB and a video 2 GB, up to four hours long. A text file is limited to 2 MB.

Can I import a YouTube video or a website?

Yes. For a YouTube video, Mindlet uses its subtitles, or transcribes it when there are none; a playlist link on its own is refused. For a site, you choose a single page or the whole site: up to 50 pages depending on your plan (15 on the free plan), three levels of links deep.

Can I import my Anki decks or Quizlet sets?

Anki decks import directly (.apkg, .colpkg, .zip), as do .csv, .tsv or .txt files where you pick the columns. There's no dedicated Quizlet import: a set exported as text or CSV goes through that text import. More on Anki import.

What if I don't have a course yet?

Start from a topic instead of a file. You describe the subject in a few sentences, the AI searches the web for sources and writes a course, then Mindlet turns it into cards. You can also write a course yourself in Documents, or create cards one by one.

3 / 9 · Reviewing

Reviews and spaced repetition

How does Mindlet decide when I should review?

Mindlet learns your forgetting rhythm, card by card. For each card it estimates when your chance of remembering drops towards 90%, and brings it back at that point. Its parameters are re-tuned every week from your answers. Understand spaced repetition.

What do the « Oubli », « Flou » and « Acquis » buttons mean?

They mean forgot, fuzzy and got it. On a flashcard, you say whether you knew it: « Oubli » brings the card back very soon, « Flou » sooner than planned, « Acquis » stretches the interval. Other formats are marked automatically. Cards from Anki can keep four buttons if you prefer.

What types of cards does Mindlet offer?

About a dozen formats: flashcard, multiple choice, true or false, fill in the blank, put in order, match, sort, estimate, open question marked by AI, map quiz, dictation and poll. For each idea, Mindlet picks the formats that suit it. You can also set the formats for a collection.

Can I review offline?

On iPhone and Android, yes: you can review up to 20 cards from a collection you've already opened online. Your answers are saved and synced when you're back online, without duplicates. Importing, generating and practice exams need a connection, and the web app doesn't start offline.

Does Mindlet send reminders?

At most one reminder a day, at the time you choose or one Mindlet learns from your habits, and nothing during quiet hours (9 pm to 8 am by default). Permission is asked at the end of a session, never at launch. A weekly summary arrives by email on Mondays.

4 / 9 · AI

AI and your content

Which AI does Mindlet use?

Mainly models from Mistral AI, a French company: writing cards, the assistant, reading scanned documents, transcription and voice. Images go through FLUX on Cloudflare Workers AI, and some game illustrations may come from Google Gemini when that option is on. Mindlet doesn't use ChatGPT. Our AI in detail.

Is my content used to train the AI?

No: Mindlet does not use your content to train artificial intelligence models, and it's written in our terms. Your documents remain yours. The licence you grant us only serves to run the service, and ends when you delete the content or your account.

Can the AI make mistakes?

Yes. Cards are written from your course, which limits errors, but a model can misread a passage or oversimplify. Every card can be edited or deleted. Check what matters before an exam. In class, we ask that an adult reviews what's shared with the group.

What can the assistant do?

It's called « Mindlet ». It answers from your documents, explains an idea another way, quizzes you, creates or edits cards, builds a dated review plan, searches the web and cites its sources, and reads a photo of an exercise. It can also talk to you out loud, in French.

Does Mindlet help people cheat?

Mindlet is built to make you learn, not to do the work for you. Cards ask you questions, hints point the way without giving the answer, and the practice exam corrects nothing until the end. Our position fits in one line: the AI prepares, it doesn't judge.

5 / 9 · Data

Data and privacy

Where is my data stored?

With providers named in our legal notice: Cloudflare (an American company, with processing within the European Union) for hosting, Mistral AI in France for the AI, Qdrant in Frankfurt for the search index, PostHog in Frankfurt for analytics. Emails go through Resend, in the United States. Your data in detail.

Does Mindlet sell my data or show ads?

No. There's no advertising in the app and no data resale. Your data is used to run the service, and our providers process it on our behalf. The mindlet.app website sets no trackers at all.

Can others see my courses?

No, unless you share them. Your documents and collections are private by default. You can share a collection with chosen people or publish it in the community catalogue. In a school space, the teacher sees their class's progress.

Does Mindlet use cookies?

The website sets none for analytics, advertising or tracking. The app measures usage without cookies, which you can switch off in Réglages → Confidentialité (Settings → Privacy). Detailed diagnostics, with session replay, stay off unless you turn them on.

6 / 9 · Pricing

Plans and payment

How much do the plans cost?

On the web, monthly with no commitment: Spark €5.99, Glow €11.99, Nova €23.99, Pulsar €59. Paid yearly, from €4.99 to €49 a month, billed in one go. They all have the same features; only éclats and limits change. Prices are a little higher on the app stores.

What is an éclat?

The unit that measures the AI's work: importing a document (5 éclats a page), generating a lesson, a study guide or a practice exam (30 éclats). Your plan refills your balance every month, from 400 éclats on the free plan to 7,500 on Pulsar, and an action's cost is shown before you start it. Reviewing never uses éclats, and they can't be bought one by one.

Is there a free trial or a student discount?

Neither: the free plan, with no time limit, does the job of a trial, and there's no student rate. Paying yearly works out at about two months free, and web checkout accepts promo codes when we run them.

Why does it cost more on the App Store?

Apple and Google take a 15% commission on every subscription sold through their stores. Prices there are about 17% higher than on the web: Glow, for example, is €11.99 a month on the web and €13.99 on the stores. The app is the same everywhere.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On the web, open Réglages → Abonnement (Settings → Subscription) in Mindlet, then click « Résilier votre contrat ». It stops at the end of the paid period and your account moves to the free plan, collections intact. A subscription taken on iPhone or Android is cancelled in your Apple or Google account settings.

7 / 9 · Schools

Schools and trainers

Does Mindlet have an offer for schools?

Yes, Cosmos, purchased on the web: a €99.99 monthly base with two creator seats, unlimited free learners and observers, and 12,000 shared éclats. Each added creator seat costs €27 to €24 a month depending on headcount; beyond 49, it's a custom quote.

What is the pilot program?

A free trial for a middle school, high school, university or training body. We provide licences, setup, an hour of on-site training and a monthly visit, then a report, even an unflattering one. No commercial strings; allow about four hours per term for trainers. The pilot program.

What does a teacher see about students?

In the school's space, the teacher follows the class: progress, difficulties by topic, homework set. The display rule is simple: whatever the teacher sees, the student can see too. A learner only sees the space's overview.

Can I run a live quiz in class?

Yes, with the live room: the quiz shows on the projector and everyone answers from their phone. Hosting is reserved for team spaces, for trainers and administrators. From a personal space, you can join a room with a code.

8 / 9 · Accessibility

Accessibility and reading comfort

Is Mindlet suitable for people with dyslexia?

Anthony, Mindlet's co-founder, is dyslexic, and the reading settings come from there. In the accessibility settings: OpenDyslexic, Lexend or Atkinson fonts, syllable splitting and silent letters (for French text), commonly confused letters highlighted. Everything is offered, nothing imposed, and a comfort test helps you choose.

Which reading settings are there?

Text size from 12 to 32 px, light, sepia, dark, OLED or high-contrast reading themes, line height, letter and word spacing, reading width, a reading ruler, dimming of inactive paragraphs, and colour correction for seven types of colour blindness. Six presets give you a starting point.

Does Mindlet meet the RGAA accessibility standard?

No, and we'd rather say so. Our accessibility statement declares Mindlet non-compliant with RGAA 4.1.2, France's accessibility standard: no audit has been carried out yet. The accessibility settings exist and are carefully built, but they don't replace an audit. Accessibility statement.

9 / 9 · Account

Your account

How do I sign in?

With a code sent by email, or with your Google account. Mindlet doesn't use passwords: nothing to remember, nothing to reset. The same account works on the web, iPhone and Android.

How old do I need to be to use Mindlet?

13. Below that, an account can only be created and managed by a parent. Between 13 and 15, learning is fully available, but features between members (friends, messages, challenges) stay closed without parental consent. Purchases are for adults only.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Réglages → Compte et sécurité (Settings → Account and security), then « Zone de danger » and « Supprimer mon compte », and type SUPPRIMER. Deletion is immediate and permanent. Cancel any store subscription first. All about deletion.

How do I get a copy of my data?
