Higher education

An AI study platform for universities, for the whole cohort

Your students already have general-purpose AI at hand. Mindlet offers something else: a tool that starts from your course materials, schedules reviews over time and shows you what isn't sticking.

  • Free pilot
  • Students free and unlimited with Cosmos
  • Models from Mistral AI, a French company

The method

Why equip students instead of leaving them to a general-purpose AI?

A general-purpose AI answers questions. It doesn't know what a student has already forgotten, or when to ask again. Yet that is where long-term memory is built: testing yourself rather than rereading, and revisiting at growing intervals.

Both levers are among the best supported in cognitive psychology. The testing effect was shown by Roediger and Karpicke (2006, Psychological Science, 17(3), 249-255); the benefit of spacing is established by the meta-analysis of Cepeda, Pashler, Vul, Wixted and Rohrer (2006, Psychological Bulletin, 132(3), 354-380). Personalised review produced 16.5% more retention than massed study in Lindsey et al. (2014, Psychological Science, 25(3), 639-647).

Mindlet applies both, card by card, with the FSRS-6 algorithm, whose settings are readjusted every week for each student. Going further: spaced repetition explained.

Forgetting curve and spaced reviews Without review, memory of a lesson drops within days. Each review, placed just before forgetting, lifts memory back up and makes the next drop slower. What you remember Time review 1 review 2 review 3 With spaced reviews Without review
Illustration of the principle, not a measurement.

From materials to reviews

The lecturer's course becomes the student's revision

The lecturer drops their materials into a collection in the space, as they are. Mindlet finds the notions, groups them into topics and writes cards in several formats. Every card can be checked and corrected before it is shared.

  • PDFs up to 25 MB, even scanned; Word, PowerPoint, OpenDocument up to 40 MB
  • Lecture recordings up to 4 hours (500 MB), videos up to 4 hours (2 GB), YouTube links
  • A web page, or a whole site (up to 50 pages depending on the plan): documentation, an online course
  • Printable study guide, mind map and two-voice podcast from the same collection

A practice exam before the real one

From a collection, the lecturer generates a practice exam: multiple choice, written or mixed, up to 40 questions, timed, graded out of 20 with a mention and a visible marking scheme. No corrections during the exam, no going back. It can be set as homework for a class: the student is done once they hand in their paper. Their answers then feed into their reviews.

  • Results by section and by topic
  • Written answers graded by AI, with written feedback
  • Review your mistakes, then retake the same paper

Cohort tracking

What isn't sticking, notion by notion

In Mindlet, a class is a named group with its level, subject and year: a first-year cohort, a tutorial group, a master's section. The Suivi (tracking) tab ranks the notions of a collection from weakest to strongest, for one group or for the whole institution.

Each notion says why it surfaces (many mistakes, doesn't last over time, demanding notion) and how many answers that finding rests on. In first year, spotting early that a notion is slipping leaves time to go over it again in tutorials.

  • No bare numbers: each indicator carries its reason and its evidence
  • Whatever the lecturer sees, the student can see too
  • Assignments set a dated goal: cards to review, a target progress level or a practice exam

Teaching teams

Clear roles, and seats for the people who create

Lecturers who import, generate and publish use a creator seat. Students, and observers who look at the dashboards without changing anything, never pay: they are free and unlimited.

Invitations go out by email, with a personal link. The Members tab lets you view, sort and export the list.

Roles in a Mindlet institution space
Role (as shown in the app)What it can doCreator seat
Propriétaire Owner. Full control, including deleting the space. Yes
Administrateur Manages members, teams and configuration. Yes
Formateur Teacher or trainer. Invites and follows learners, manages their teaching teams. Yes
Apprenant Learner. Accesses shared content and their own statistics. No, free
Observateur Looks at the space's dashboards without changing anything or studying. No, free

You can only assign a role below your own. A learner only sees the Overview tab of the space.

Information systems

What about integration with your information system?

We'd rather be precise. From 10 seats, the Cosmos offer includes single sign-on with the institution's accounts (SSO), automatic account creation (SCIM) and integration with a learning platform or Moodle (LTI).

Whether they work in your environment has to be checked with your IT department, and we don't promise it before we have. If it's a requirement for you, say so in the first conversation: it becomes part of the pilot.

European AI and data

A French AI, and answers you can check

What a data protection officer asks us first, with our answers as they appear in our documents.

  • Mistral AI at the core

Card generation, the assistant, document reading and voice: models from Mistral AI, a French company. Other providers are involved, notably for images; all of them are listed.

  • No training on your courses

We do not use your content to train artificial intelligence models. It's written in our terms.

  • Where data is processed

Our main providers process data within the European Union. Each one, its role and its country appear in our legal notice.

  • Transparency for students

Whatever the lecturer sees, the student can see. No advertising in the product, no data resale.

  • No formal grades

Practice exams and automatic corrections are for practice. Assessing what students have learned stays with the teaching team.

  • Nine content languages

The interface is in French. Cards can be generated in nine languages, including English, Spanish and German: useful for international programmes.

From pilot to licence

How much does an institution licence cost?

The Cosmos licence is subscribed on the web. Before we talk about it, we offer a free pilot with a cohort or a tutorial group.

Cosmos, the licence for an institution or a training body (prices including VAT, per month)
What it includesPrice
Base The full institution space, with 2 creator seats included €99.99 / month
Extra creator seats Teachers, trainers, admins: anyone who imports, generates and publishes. The seat price depends on the total headcount. €27 each (3 to 9 seats in total), €25 (10 to 19), €24 (20 to 49), quote from 50
Learners and observers Students, trainees, people who follow without editing Unlimited, free
Generation capacity Shared across the institution, refilled every month 12,000 éclats (the unit for AI work), plus 3,000 per added seat
Examples 5 creator seats / 12 creator seats / 20 creator seats €180.99 / €349.99 / €531.99 per month

Cosmos is subscribed on the web only. Reviewing stays free and unlimited for everyone. During a pilot, there is no licence to pay.

Getting started

A pilot with one cohort

We set up the space and the accounts, train the team on site for an hour, visit every month and hand you a final report, even an unfavourable one. To measure retention over a full chapter, allow a term; a semester lets you compare two ways of working.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a university recommend an AI study tool to its students?

That's the institution's decision, and it should be made on the evidence. We provide what you need to assess it: the list of our providers and their countries, our commitment not to train models on your content, and our terms. The simplest way is to judge on a free pilot, with a report handed over even if it isn't flattering.

Does Mindlet integrate with Moodle?

From 10 seats, the Cosmos offer includes LTI integration (learning platforms, Moodle), SSO and SCIM. Whether they work in your environment has to be checked with your IT department, and we don't promise it before then. Either way, students can join the space through a personal invitation link.

How much does a campus licence cost?

The Cosmos base costs €99.99 a month including VAT and includes two creator seats. Each extra seat costs €27 (3 to 9 seats in total), €25 (10 to 19) or €24 (20 to 49), with a quote beyond that. Students and observers are free and unlimited. Twelve lecturers, for example, come to €349.99 a month.

Do students have to pay anything?

No. In a Cosmos space, student accounts are free with no limit on numbers, and reviewing never costs anything. Students can also use Mindlet on their own with the free plan, or a personal plan if they wish.

Do practice exams count towards grades?

No. The practice exam is graded out of 20 so students know where they stand, but Mindlet produces no grade that counts towards a qualification. Written answers are graded by an AI model with written feedback: it's practice, not an assessment of learning.

How can we spot first-year difficulties early?

In the tracking tab, choose the course collection and the group: notions are ranked from weakest to strongest, with the reason and the number of answers behind it. A notion that doesn't last over time shows up before the exam, while there is still time to go over it.

Which AI does Mindlet use?

Mainly models from Mistral AI, a French company: card generation, the assistant, document reading, transcription of recordings. Other providers are used for some images. The full list is on our AI page.
