Study app features

Features: everything Mindlet does with your course material

You bring the course, in whatever shape it's in. Mindlet turns it into cards, study guides and practice exams, then has you review at the right time, alone or with others.

  • Free to start
  • Web, iOS and Android
  • App in French, content in 9 languages

1. Import

What can you import?

The course you already have, without retyping it. Mindlet reads a PDF even when it's scanned, understands a video or recording up to four hours long, and goes through a web page or a whole site up to fifty pages.

  • PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, ePub, OpenDocument, images
  • YouTube links, video and audio files
  • One web page, or the whole site
  • Pasted text, Anki decks, or just a topic when you have no file yet

2. Learn

Which question types does the AI create?

For each notion, an anchor card, then the formats that suit it. Around the cards, study materials to understand before you memorise, and an editor to write your own courses.

Formats

The twelve card formats, and what they're for

The same notion comes back in several shapes: you remember the answer, not where it sits on the screen. You can force a collection's formats in its settings.

Mindlet's twelve exercise formats: what each is for, an example, and how the answer is checked
FormatWhat it's forExampleChecking
Flashcard Remembering a definition, a word, a formula “What is the role of mitochondria?” on the front, the answer on the back You rate yourself: Oubli, Flou or Acquis (forgot, fuzzy, known)
Multiple choice (QCM) Recognising the right answer among close options “In what year was the Bastille stormed?”, four options Automatic
True / False (Vrai / Faux) Checking a statement, catching a misconception “Plant cells have no mitochondria.” Automatic
Fill in the blank (Texte à trous) Recalling the exact word in context “Mitochondria produce … through cellular respiration.” Automatic
Put in order (Remettre en ordre) Remembering a sequence: the steps of a process, dates The four phases of mitosis Automatic
Match (Associer) Linking pairs: a term and its definition, an author and a work Each organelle with its function Automatic
Sort (Classer) Placing items into categories Vertebrates or invertebrates Automatic
Estimate (Estimer) Giving an order of magnitude “How many bones are in the adult skeleton?” Automatic
Open question (Question ouverte) Explaining in your own words “Explain the difference between mitosis and meiosis.” Judged by an AI model, with written feedback
Map quiz (Carte géo) Placing a location on an unlabelled map Find the Danube Automatic
Dictation (Dictée) Listening to audio and writing what you hear, for a language A sentence in Spanish Automatic; only created when you ask for it
Poll (Sondage) Collecting an opinion, with no right answer “Which chapter felt hardest?” Not graded; never generated by the AI

There is a thirteenth type: the note, an Anki-style record with several fields that produces cards. You write it by hand or it comes with an Anki deck; the AI never generates it. Drag formats (put in order, match, sort, fill in the blank) also work with the keyboard. The names in brackets are the labels you will see in the app, which is in French.

Beyond cards

Five study materials from the same collection

In each collection's “Supports” tab: a study guide downloadable as a PDF, a mind map built during analysis, a two-voice podcast, a slideshow and a narrated video.

  • Study guide: definitions, formulas, tables, common traps
  • Mind map: topics, sub-topics, notions
  • Podcast, slideshow, video: for studying without reading

The assistant

An assistant that quizzes you instead of doing the work for you

You talk to Mindlet in writing, or out loud in French. It knows your collections: it explains a notion another way, asks you questions about your course, creates cards for you and can start a session.

Scheduling

How Mindlet picks the day of each review

Every card has its own return date. Get it right and it comes back later; miss it and it comes back soon. Mindlet works out that moment with the FSRS-6 spaced repetition algorithm, aiming for a 90% chance of recall by default.

Its settings are re-tuned every week from your own answers. Each day, the app tells you how many cards are due. Reviewing never costs anything, whatever your plan.

Understand spaced repetition
Forgetting curve and spaced reviews Without review, memory of a lesson drops within days. Each review, placed just before forgetting, lifts memory back up and makes the next drop slower. What you remember Time review 1 review 2 review 3 With spaced reviews Without review
Illustration of the principle, not a measurement.

3. Test yourself

Practise under exam conditions

A collection's “S'évaluer” (test yourself) tab gathers the tests. The practice exam builds a paper from your course (multiple choice, written or mixed), times it, gives no corrections during the test and grades it out of 20, section by section. The timed challenge mixes six to eight cards at thirty seconds each.

On import, a placement test checks what you already know. And the quiz generator works as well for revising as for preparing an assessment for a class.

4. Study together

Study together: challenges, live quizzes, sharing

Challenge a friend to a duel on a collection. In class, run a live quiz on the projector: everyone answers from their phone. Share your collections, browse the community's in “Découvrir” (discover), and chat in messages.

  • One-on-one challenges between friends
  • Live quiz: hosted from a school's workspace, joined with a code
  • Shared collections and group messages

For 13 to 15-year-olds, features between members require a parent's consent.

5. Comfort

Reading comfort that everyone sets for themselves

In the accessibility settings: OpenDyslexic, Lexend, Atkinson or Nunito fonts, size, line and letter spacing, syllable splitting for French, a reading ruler, colour correction for seven types of colour blindness. Six presets to start from, and a reading comfort test to find your own. Nothing is imposed.

Devices

Which devices does it run on?

One account, your collections everywhere.

  • Web

At app.mindlet.app, in any browser. It's also the app to use on a computer.

  • iPhone

On the App Store, iOS 15 and later.

  • Android

On Google Play, Android 7 and later.

  • Offline

In the mobile app, review up to twenty cards from a collection you've already opened; your answers sync when you're back. Import, generation and practice exams need a connection.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which file types does Mindlet accept?

PDFs (even scanned, 25 MB), Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OpenDocument, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, ePub (40 MB), PNG, JPEG or WebP images (30 MB), audio (500 MB) and video (2 GB) up to four hours, YouTube links, web pages or sites, pasted text and Anki decks. iPhone HEIC photos aren't supported yet.

How many question types can the AI generate?

The AI generates ten formats: flashcard, multiple choice, true or false, fill in the blank, put in order, match, sort, estimate, open question and map quiz. It also creates dictations when you ask for them. Polls and Anki-style notes are written by hand: the formats table has the details.

Can I edit AI-generated cards?

Yes. Every card can be edited or deleted, and you can add your own alongside. You can also force a collection's formats in its settings. An AI can make mistakes: skim the cards of each new chapter.

Does Mindlet work offline?

Partly. On iPhone and Android, you can review up to twenty cards from a collection you've already opened without a connection; your answers are saved and synced when you're back. Import, generation, the assistant and practice exams need a connection. The website doesn't start offline.

Can I share a collection with my class?

Yes. You can make a collection public or invite members to it. In a school's workspace (the Cosmos plan), a teacher creates classes, sets homework and tracks difficulties notion by notion. See the teachers and schools page.

Is the app available in English?

The Mindlet interface is in French for now. Your courses, cards and study guides can be in English: content can be generated in nine languages, including English, Spanish and German. The voice assistant speaks French only.

Your next course, already in cards.

Drop a PDF, a link or a lecture recording. Mindlet does the preparation, you do the learning.
