Knowledge retention after training: make what was learned last

The session ends, daily work takes over, and without reminders a good part fades within days. Mindlet turns your materials into short spaced reviews that each learner does on their phone after the course.

  • Free pilot for training providers
  • Learners free and unlimited

The forgetting curve

Why learners forget, and how to prevent it

What isn't used again fades fast: that's the forgetting curve, described by Hermann Ebbinghaus in 1885. A dense two-day course is no exception, especially when learners don't apply what they saw straight away.

Two habits slow that decline. Testing yourself rather than rereading: the testing effect (Roediger and Karpicke, 2006, Psychological Science, 17(3), 249-255). Spacing reminders rather than reviewing everything at once: the meta-analysis by Cepeda et al. (2006, Psychological Bulletin, 132(3), 354-380) makes it one of the most robust findings in the field.

Mindlet does both on the trainer's behalf. More on spaced repetition.

Forgetting curve and spaced reviews Without review, memory of a lesson drops within days. Each review, placed just before forgetting, lifts memory back up and makes the next drop slower. What you remember Time review 1 review 2 review 3 With spaced reviews Without review
Illustration of the principle, not a measurement.

Before, during, after

Three moments where Mindlet serves the training

  1. Before: prepare

The trainer drops their materials (slides, PDFs, video, a web page) into a collection in the space. They check the generated cards, correct them, and can require specific formats.

  2. During: run the session

A group quiz in a live room, on the projector: everyone answers on their phone, and the leaderboard shows between questions. Good for reviving a sleepy afternoon.

  3. After: make it stick

An assignment with a due date, then spaced reminders for each learner. At most one reminder a day, nothing during quiet hours.

Training quizzes

Quizzes that check understanding

A good reinforcement quiz asks one question per notion, makes learners recall the answer rather than recognise it, and comes back several times. Mindlet varies the formats to suit the subject: multiple choice, true/false, fill in the blank, put in order (for a procedure), match, sort, estimate, open question.

Open questions are graded by a language model, which gives written feedback: useful to check that a learner can explain a safety instruction in their own words. See also the MCQ generator.

  • A procedure becomes a "put in order" card
  • A threshold, a temperature, a duration become an "estimate" card
  • Learners rate themselves on flashcards; other formats are corrected automatically

Tracking

Follow the group, and keep a record

In the training provider's space, the Suivi (tracking) tab ranks the notions of a collection from weakest to strongest, for one session or for the whole organisation. Each notion says why it surfaces and how many answers that finding rests on.

Assignments set a dated goal: a number of cards to review, a target progress level, or a practice exam to hand in. The Members tab lets you view, sort and export the list of learners.

What about quality certification?

In France, the Qualiopi quality mark certifies a training provider, not software. No tool makes a provider "compliant", and Mindlet holds no certification.

What the tool can bring to your own process: a record of what was set for review and by when, of each learner's progress, and of the notions that aren't sticking. What exactly can be exported is something we check with you during a pilot. Automatic corrections are for practice: they don't replace your assessment of learning outcomes.

Self-directed learning

Learning on your own, with a method

A certification to prepare, a new job, regulations to master: Mindlet also works on its own, without a training provider. You drop in your documents, the app has you review at the right time, and you test yourself when you decide to.

The timed test (Épreuve chronométrée) mixes formats over six to eight cards, thirty seconds each. The practice exam, graded out of 20, tells you topic by topic what still needs work. The free plan has no time limit; paid plans start at €4.99 a month on the web, billed yearly.

What we do with training content and learner data.

  • Your materials stay yours

We do not use your content to train AI models. The licence you grant us is limited to running the service.

  • Mistral AI

Card generation, the assistant and document reading run on models from Mistral AI, a French company.

  • Providers listed

Our main providers process data within the European Union. Each one, its role and its country appear in our legal notice.

  • Nothing behind the learner's back

Whatever the trainer sees, the learner can see too. No advertising in the product, no resale.

Licence

How much does Mindlet cost for a training provider?

A training provider subscribes to Cosmos, on the web. Only trainers who create use a seat; learners are free, however many there are.

Cosmos, the licence for an institution or a training body (prices including VAT, per month)
What it includesPrice
Base The full institution space, with 2 creator seats included €99.99 / month
Extra creator seats Teachers, trainers, admins: anyone who imports, generates and publishes. The seat price depends on the total headcount. €27 each (3 to 9 seats in total), €25 (10 to 19), €24 (20 to 49), quote from 50
Learners and observers Students, trainees, people who follow without editing Unlimited, free
Generation capacity Shared across the institution, refilled every month 12,000 éclats (the unit for AI work), plus 3,000 per added seat
Examples 5 creator seats / 12 creator seats / 20 creator seats €180.99 / €349.99 / €531.99 per month

Cosmos is subscribed on the web only. Reviewing stays free and unlimited for everyone. During a pilot, there is no licence to pay.

Getting started

A free pilot on one session

For a training provider or an apprenticeship centre: we equip a group, train your trainers on site, measure over at least one chapter reviewed for four to six weeks, and hand you a report, even an unfavourable one. No obligation to buy at the end.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do you improve knowledge retention after training?

By bringing key notions back after the session, as questions rather than rereading, at intervals that grow longer. That's what spaced repetition does. With Mindlet, your materials become cards, and the app schedules each learner's reminders based on what they remember or forget.

How do you write an effective training quiz?

One notion per question, an answer to recall rather than recognise, and formats that fit: a procedure is put in order, a threshold is estimated, a definition is completed. Mindlet generates these cards from your materials; you check and correct them before sharing them with the group.

Does Mindlet help with quality certification such as Qualiopi?

Qualiopi certifies the training provider, not the tool, and Mindlet holds no certification. The app keeps a record of what was set for review, each learner's progress and the weaker notions. You can use it in your own assessment process, but compliance remains yours.

What is microlearning?

Learning in short, frequent sessions rather than long blocks. In Mindlet, session length can be set (short, medium, long), one card shows at a time, and the app sends at most one reminder a day, never during quiet hours.

Does spaced repetition work for corporate training?

The spacing and testing effects are among the best established in the psychology of learning (Cepeda et al., 2006; Roediger and Karpicke, 2006), and they are not tied to school age. Their effect in your context can be measured: that's what a pilot is for, with a report handed over even if it isn't flattering.

How do I learn on my own effectively?

Test yourself regularly, space out your reviews, and check what you know before the deadline. Mindlet handles the calendar: each day it shows you the cards you are about to forget. The timed test and the practice exam graded out of 20 tell you where you stand.

Do learners have to pay?

No. In a Cosmos space, learners and observers are free and unlimited; only trainers who create use a seat. Learners review from their own account, on the web, iPhone or Android, and, on mobile, can review a collection they have already opened without a network connection.
