The Mindlet app is in French. This guide quotes each button as it appears on screen, in French, with its English meaning in brackets. Your own courses and cards can be in English or eight other languages.
Mindlet has a full set of reading settings. Nothing is switched on by default: everyone turns on what they need. The settings are open to everyone, even during a trial without an account.
Find the right settings
- Open Moi (Me), then « Accessibilité » (Accessibility). In Réglages (Settings), the same page is called « Accessibilité et confort » (Accessibility and comfort).
- Not sure where to start? Tap « Test de confort » (Comfort test). It has you compare texts and pick the one that reads best, without knowing what each setting is called.
- Otherwise, in the « Profils » (Profiles) tab, pick a starting point: Standard, Dyslexie (Dyslexia), Concentration, Fatigue oculaire (Eye strain), Basse vision (Low vision) or Sensoriel (Sensory).
- In the « Affiner » (Fine-tune) tab, adjust each setting. The preview updates as you go.
What you can adjust
| Section | Examples |
|---|---|
| Interface | OpenDyslexic font, stronger contrast, size from 90 to 140%, reduced motion, softer colours |
| Lecture (Reading) | Nunito, Lexend, Atkinson or OpenDyslexic fonts; size, line height, letter and word spacing, text width; Light, Sepia, Dark, OLED or High contrast themes |
| Dyslexie (Dyslexia) | syllable splitting, silent letters, commonly confused letters (b and d, p and q), colouring of 14 French sounds |
| Focus | reading ruler, current line highlighted, inactive paragraphs dimmed, proper nouns, dates and numbers emphasised |
| Vision | colour correction for seven types of colour blindness |
Good to know
- The comfort test has about a dozen questions. Fonts are given neutral names, and it never asks whether you are dyslexic.
- Syllable splitting, silent letters and sound colouring work for French text only.
- If you turn on more than three aids at once, Mindlet warns you: too many aids can get in the way.
- There is no dark mode for the whole app: the Dark and OLED themes apply to reading.
- During a session, « Écouter la carte » (Listen to the card) reads the card aloud.
